SpamFoo for your Microsoft 365 mailboxes

Connect your Microsoft 365 organization and choose the mailboxes to protect. SpamFoo checks new mail as it arrives, moves spam and phishing to Junk Email, and can give other mail an Email Classification category in Outlook. We run it for you, with nothing to install.

01How it works

Your mail keeps flowing the way it does today

Microsoft still receives and filters your mail. When a new message reaches a protected mailbox's Inbox or Junk Email folder, Microsoft lets SpamFoo know. SpamFoo checks the message and then moves or labels it right in the mailbox.

  • No MX record changes
  • No Outlook add-in for anyone to install
  • Antispam, Anti-Phishing and Email Classification
  • Your own SpamFoo instance, run and kept up to date by us
  • For Microsoft 365 mailboxes in Exchange Online, including plans once sold as Office 365

02Modes

See the results on your own mail before anything moves

Choose a mode on your license's Microsoft 365 page in your SpamFoo account, and change it whenever you like.

Shadow

SpamFoo checks mail and reports what it would have moved or labeled, without changing any mailbox.

Junk only

Spam and phishing move to the Junk Email folder. Everything else stays where Microsoft delivered it.

Junk and categories

Spam and phishing move to Junk Email, and other mail gets a Transactions, Updates or Promotions category that people can sort and filter by in Outlook.

Two more options are there when you want them. SpamFoo can use the Focused Inbox, keeping Primary mail in Focused and other classified mail in Other. It can also move a message from Junk Email back to the Inbox when Microsoft put it there and SpamFoo is confident it is Primary mail.

03Learning

SpamFoo learns from how people already use Outlook

Moving a message between the Inbox and Junk Email, including with Outlook's Report and Not junk buttons, trains SpamFoo for that person. So does changing a message's category, or moving it between Focused and Other. It works in any Outlook app.

What SpamFoo learns takes effect for that person's mailbox right away and also helps improve SpamFoo for every user.

Questions about SpamFoo for Microsoft 365

Does Microsoft's own filtering keep running?

Yes. Microsoft filters and delivers mail as it does today, and SpamFoo checks each new message after it arrives in the mailbox.

Who has to approve SpamFoo?

A Microsoft 365 administrator. To approve it for the whole organization, sign in with a Global Administrator or Privileged Role Administrator account.

Do users need to install anything?

No. There is no Outlook add-in. People keep using Outlook as they do now, and their corrections reach SpamFoo from the mailbox itself.

Can I protect only some mailboxes?

Yes. Protect every licensed user or choose mailboxes from a list. You can also limit SpamFoo's access in Exchange Online so it can only ever reach the mailboxes in a group or administrative unit you choose.

How do I stop using it?

Choose Disconnect on the license's Microsoft 365 page. SpamFoo removes its mail subscriptions and deletes the data it keeps for your organization, and mail it already moved stays where it is. Then remove the SpamFoo app in the Microsoft Entra admin center.
