01Senders
The senders SpamFoo keeps track of
Every SpamFoo installation adds to a shared picture of which sending domains and IP addresses can be trusted, and which domains are pretending to be someone else.
02Time of day
Real mail follows the workday. Spam doesn't slow down as much.
When real mail slows down, spam slows down much less. So in the quiet hours, a bigger share of what arrives is spam. Times on this chart are shown in your time zone.
- The most spam arrives around 13:00.
- The highest share is around 01:00, when 31.5% of mail is spam.
- The lowest share is around 07:00, at 13.1%.
03Thirty days
Weekends bring less mail and a bigger share of spam
On weekdays, SpamFoo installations checked about 3.2 million messages a day and 18.8% was spam. On weekends, volume fell by more than half and the spam share rose to 20.6%.
04How verdicts are reached
Where 79.6 million verdicts came from
Most messages reach the models. Sender reputation settles about 1 in 8 on its own, and users' own corrections decide or adjust another 1.5%.
05Sender authentication
90.1% of mail passed DMARC, SPF and DKIM checks
For each message with sender data, SpamFoo records whether it passed SPF, DKIM and DMARC. A failed check is one signal among many, and a pass alone doesn't get a message delivered.
- Passed authentication70,461,022 messages90.1%
- Not evaluated2,251,029 messages2.9%
- Sender's domain has no DMARC policy2,983,420 messages3.8%
- Failed DMARC2,502,258 messages3.2%
Want your own domain on the passing side? Publish a DMARC policy, then move it to quarantine once your reports look clean.
